Cartoon bees!

Now that we've learned about the jobs the different bees do in the hive, we've made our own crazy cartoon type pictures to show what each bee does!
Check out our:
  • Queen bees......laying all the eggs, wearing crowns, lazing around.....
  • Drones.....helping the Queen make the eggs........
  • Workers.......building with tools, collecting buckets of pollen, taking out the rubbish.....

We will miss you Miss Falzone

We have enjoyed having Miss Falzone work with us in R2 over the past 4 weeks. Here are some photos of her teaching us...

More Bee learning!

We are continuing to learn about bees, and the community they live in. Earlier we learned that bees are insects, but we weren't sure exactly what an insect was, or why a bee was one?
So.....we read a book about insects and recorded the information on a define map - some of what we read was relevant (important), and some wasn't.

Then we used the information on the define map to write a definition of an insect. A definition describes or tells about something. Our definition of an insect is...
An insect is a small egg laying animal with 6 legs, 3 body parts, and usually 4 wings!

YES - a bee is an insect. And now we know why!

Up at The Honey Centre we saw and heard lots about bees. On Tuesday we built our own bees to learn more about the parts of their bodies, and what each part does.

Have a listen to what we know about the parts of a bee's body...
