Kelly Sports Promo day

On Thursday the team from Kelly Sports came to school to promote their sports club. We played some fun games and had a good time.
Benjamin helped the team demonstrate some of the activities...

Then we all had a go...

Proud of our Prints

We are all really proud of our PVA Farm Animal prints...

First we drew our farm animals with pencil then squeezed PVA around all the lines. When it was dry we rolled ink onto the animal, put a clean sheet of paper onto and rolled with a clean roller. We got a lovely surprise when we peeled our paper off!

Magnificent readers

More magnificent readers reach their milestones...well done everybody, and keep on reading.

Answering the BIG question...

Throughout this term we have been learning about farms and farm animals - especially cows and dairy farms - to answer our big question:
Cows are too smelly! Do we really need them?
We've come up with answers, using a variety of ways to share our thoughts...
A voicethread...

Our written language...

Finn: We need cows because they give milk to us. Yes we need the cow and the milk can be cheese. No and Yes some people think we need cows because they give us milk. If we did have no cows there would be no milk because there's no cows. Cows give us ice cream and cows have beef inside. If there was no cows there will be no milk and no more cheese and no more ice cream. No more milk in the whole world!
Benjamin: We do need cows because if we didn't have cows we would die. All the other things that have milk we wouldn't have - a lot of things. I like ice cream so we do need cows. Lots of other people like ice cream as well.
Brooklyn: We get lots of stuff from cows. We need cows because if there was no cows there would be no milk and no cow meat. From the milk it can be turned into ice cream, yoghurt and chocolate. We get macaroni cheese from milk. Some people do not like cow milk so they drink goat milk or sheep milk. At the factory it sometimes gets flavoured. It can be chocolate milk or banana milk or strawberry milk.
Reihana: We need cows because they give us milk and we drink the milk and we like milk. We need them, we have to have them to bring us milk. We like milk!
Juliana: Yes we do need cows because they give us ice cream.
Hannah: We don't need them because they are too smelly.
Avan: We need cows because they give us milk and they give us meat. We make ice cream from milk.
Ashleigh: Ice cream and milk and yoghurt are things I like so yes we need cows.
Tessa: Yes we need cows because they give us milk. They give us ice cream. They give us cheese. I like cheese. If we didn't have cows we wouldn't have milk. I would be sad. I had macaroni cheese last night and if cows were dead we wouldn't have macaroni cheese.
Ti'a: Yes we need cows because they give us ice cream.
Angela: Do we need cows? Yes, because cows have meat and ice cream and yoghurt, cheese and butter. But cows are very smelly, but we need cows because cows have meat or ice cream or yoghurt.
Kody: We do need cows because they give us milk. We use milk for ice cream.
Samuel: No we don't need cows because I use rice milk.
Emil: No because they are stinky.
Harrison: We need cows because they make milk. From milk we get butter.
J: Yes we do need cows because they give us milk.
Tatenda: Yes we need cows because they give us milk, ice cream, butter and cheese.
Eric: We go to the farm and see cows.
Jamie: Yes we need cows because they give us milk.

Where does our food come from?

After talking about which foods come from which animals, we used Inspiration to organise our ideas. We had to think about the farm animals that we get food from, and what the food is that we get from them. We learned to link the animal to the food we get from them.
Here are a couple of our Inspiration charts...
