Congratulations Kody for being Miss James' musician of the day!

Our New Journey begins...

This term we are learning about 'Community' - specifically our school community compared with the bee community.
Our question asks
Would I rather be a bee or me?
We thought a little about the question & made up our minds - but we may change them later?!?

To start we shared what we thought 'community' meant...we really don't know what it means, but wonder if it is something to do with people who help / people who look for bad people. We decided that meant at the moment we are prestructural because we don't know anything about it!

We do know a bit about bees though...
We brainstormed all we knew about bees to help us know where to start.

We also talked about things that we weren't sure about...

and things we'd like to find out about bees...

We decided we were probably uni/multistructural because we showed one or more things about what a bee looks like:

• they are yellow & black
• they have a body
• they have wings
• they have legs
• they have a stinger
• they have antennae
• they have eyes

We know a little about bees body parts, but have a lot still to find out!

Term 1 ends today........see you all back on Monday 27th April. Have a great break.

You are Invited...

Last week we started putting together our display boards, and this week we are practising our presentations to answer our question "Who am I...what makes me Special?" It was a big job, a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, getting all our pieces onto the boards in a way that looked good! (A big job indeed, says Mrs Hawkins!!!) After some tips, ideas and pointers the children went to work deciding what to put where to make their display board look interesting...

We think you'll be impressed when you come and see for yourselves, and hear us talk about what we have found out. We've put a lot of work into finding out about ourselves this term and hope that you'll be able to come and hear about it on Thursday 9-9:30am in the classroom!

We're so proud of you Benjamin for sharing your ideas and explaining your thinking when adding and subtracting...a super star Mathematician. And well done to Tatenda for writing letter sounds and words independently - by herself - in her story writing. What stars!
